I have decided to move to Austin, but now I need to decide where in Austin. Help?
I am a 28 yr old female, I could probably get a bar-tending job, or work in travel/tourism or marketing but I am a writer. I am moving alone except for my big dog. I need to be around some sort of country music scene, and I need a town that doesn’t close at 10pm. But at the same time isn’t college party central. Any ideas??
South Austin may be a good choice for you. It’s close to downtown so there’s plenty of good bar tending as well as other employment opportunities. Although St. Edward’s is on South Congress, it’s not really considered the “university” area. There are several dog parks in the area for you and your pup. For country music, it’s hard to beat the Broken Spoke on South Lamar. Rent can be a bit pricey though, so it makes sense to take a good look around if you can.
